Our Impact: 44 Free Camps, 11,000+ Lives Touched
Since August 2024, Team Vimalakar Foundation has conducted 44 free GI (gastrointestinal) cancer screening camps across 22 districts of Telangana, India, screening 11,040 people completely free of cost — and identifying 165 individuals with suspected cancer early enough to be referred for timely treatment. Every camp is led by surgical gastroenterologist Dr. Vimalakar Reddy Eppa of Apollo Hospitals, Jubilee Hills, Hyderabad.
Free diagnostics delivered
Beyond screening, every camp provides free laboratory and imaging tests on-site:
Why this matters
GI cancers are among the most common — and most treatable, when caught early. By taking screening directly to rural and underserved communities, we remove the two biggest barriers to early detection: cost and distance. For the 165 people in whom cancer was suspected, that early catch can be the difference between a treatable diagnosis and a tragedy.
22 districts of Telangana reached
